SO.... what's RotoScope? The following is Mom's take
on all this:
Rotoscope is called "post" production work
on movies because it is done after all the (what I call) "human"
filming is done. It is a process where they add, delete or alter
parts from the images that were previously filmed in preparation
for other processes to happen.
Once the Digital RotoScope Paint Artists are done with
their stuff (I'm told it's never "done"), the work goes
to other departments who then do their thing to the images to
produce the final images.
This is a hugely simplistic description of what happens
to a movie like Lord of the Rings. Is there any wonder the huge
number of personnel working on what is considered "post"
production work?
Going to the movies has taken on new meaning for this
proud Mom.
